Australia (AU)¶
National-ID patterns loaded when you pass countries=["AU"] (or "all"). Universal patterns always stay.
This is a detector, not a legal opinion
id-extract matches the shape of these numbers. A hit is not proof that the value was issued, is still valid, or that the cited statute applies to your document. Checksums, where present, only test the extra digit.

The number on an Australian Medicare card. The first digit is 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. The ninth digit is a check digit. The tenth digit is the person's position on the card. A failed check is dropped, because ten digits are also an NPI.
